Money and credit card

The legal tender of Hungary is the Hungarian forint (HUF).
Coins of HUF 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100 and banknotes of HUF 500, 1,000, 2,000, 5,000, 10,000 and 20,000 are in circulation.

It is only recommended to exchange money in banks and official exchange offices! Exchanging money in the street is risky and illegal! Most banks have 24-hour currency exchange machines. Certain banks and travel agencies set and adjust the currency exchange rates themselves, taking the exchange rate quoted by the central bank as its basis. It is mandatory to post the exchange rates. It is worth keeping the receipt after exchanging money until you leave the country.

These credit cards may be used for cash withdrawals from banks and ATMs or for the payment of hotel, restaurant and business invoices. At the entrances and till points, emblems indicate the type of cards accepted by the various places.
